Information about you: how we use it and with whom we share it

We are committed to respecting and protecting your online privacy. You have the right to know what personal data is held about you and how it is used, and to ask for that data to be changed or deleted at any time.

The information you provide will be used by the Binks Hub to:

  • administer events and training, monitor participation, and obtain feedback

  • ensure that content from the website is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer

  • provide information about the Binks Hub news, opportunities and events where you have consented to be contacted

Cookies

The Binks Hub website does not use cookies to store any data, personal or otherwise. We use the WP Statistics plugin (WordPress) to monitor website visits. WP Statistics is GDPR compliant and doesn’t collect personal data or store information based on users. We anonymize IP addresses for compliance.

We embed videos from Media Hopper Create, which are subject to the Media Hopper Create – Privacy Statement.

Mailing list

The Binks Hub will only email you if you indicate your interest in being added to our mailing list. You can opt out of the mailing list at any time through using the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of any email you have received from us.

The personal data you provide will be used by us to:

  • keep you up to date with events, research, and other hub activities

  • ensure we only communicate with you about updates of interest to you

We use dotmailer as our mailing system. The mailing list is therefore subject to the dotdigital privacy policy.

Events

We will use your personal data to allow us to process your registration, communicate with you, and obtain your feedback about the event. We process the information about you for these purposes because by registering for an event, you are entering into a contractual agreement for us to do so.

In order to facilitate online bookings for our events, we use Eventbrite, a third-party service which is not operated by the University of Edinburgh. Please read Eventbrite’s privacy statement if you wish to see the details of their policy.

If you have given us your permission, we will share your name, affiliation and contact details with other participants in the delegate list. We will not share information about you with any other third party.

After the event, we may send you a survey as it is our legitimate interest to help us improve any future events we organise.

Retention

We will hold the personal data you provide in line with the University of Edinburgh’s retention schedules.

Automated decision making

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes. A human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.
